UCSB Student Resources
UCSB Student Health
UCSB’s Student Health Services offers timely, compassionate support for students seeking abortion care. Medication abortion (MAB) is available on campus, with consultation appointments typically available within 1–3 days. Follow-up care, such as an ultrasound or blood test, is provided to ensure the process is complete. If a procedural abortion (aspiration) is preferred or medically needed, student health clinicians can provide referrals to off-campus providers, such as Planned Parenthood.
In addition to abortion care, Student Health offers guidance on birth control options and emergency contraception. Students can start birth control immediately following a medication abortion, if desired.
To obtain pregnancy and abortion care through MyHealth services, go to Appointments -> Schedule an Appointment -> Clinic Appointments -> Medical Services -> Sexual and Reproductive Health -> Pregnancy Services.
From there, you can book a range of appointments, including OB care, pregnancy counseling, medication abortion, and referrals to Planned Parenthood for procedural abortion. For more information or to schedule over the phone, call Student Health at (805) 893-3371.
Student Health is located at Building 588 MC 7002, Santa Barbara, CA 93106, on the corner of El Colegio and Ocean, with paid parking in the lot off El Colegio.
Planned Parenthood Santa Barbara Health Center
The Santa Barbara Planned Parenthood offers medication abortion up to 11 weeks of pregnancy and procedural abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. If it’s been more than 24 weeks since the first day of your last period, they can help connect you with additional care options. They also offer a wide range of in-person and telehealth services, including pregnancy testing and counseling, emergency contraception (Plan B), birth control, STI testing and treatment, and more. Their abortion page details what to expect and how to prepare for your appointment, as well as the financial assistance options that may be available to you.
Planned Parenthood accepts a variety of payment methods, including cash, credit/debit cards, and many forms of insurance, including Medi-Cal. If you don’t have insurance, you may still be eligible for financial assistance or state programs that can help cover the cost of your care. Staff can walk you through your options and help you apply for coverage during your visit or over the phone.
You can book an appointment at Planned Parenthood via their booking portal or over the phone by calling (888) 898-3806. The clinic is located at 518 Garden Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. There is free parking available in their lot for patients. The clinic is also accessible by public transportation, specifically the 11 and 24X lines, if you are coming from Isla Vista.
Network Medical: CPC Warning
Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) may look like medical clinics, but most are not staffed by licensed healthcare providers. These centers are often run by anti-abortion groups and aim to dissuade people from getting abortions. They may give out inaccurate or biased information, create delays in care, or try to pressure clients into continuing a pregnancy. If you’re looking for abortion care, it’s important to seek help from a trusted, licensed provider who respects your right to make informed choices.
Network Medical Women’s Center in Santa Barbara is classified as a CPC according to the Crisis Pregnancy Center Map, and therefore is not a reputable place to receive abortion care. People seeking accurate, nonjudgmental reproductive healthcare should avoid CPCs like Network Medical and instead connect with licensed clinics that provide evidence-based, patient-centered support.
